I began working on one of my projects this quarter and forgot to upload my progress! Here's my progress so far in an attempt to catch up with what I've already done. This was the first milestone. This milestone was more of an ideation process, using the first two weeks of class to determine the direction of the project.
One of the biggest issues with this first milestone was the scope of the project.
My initial idea for this project was to do an abandoned factory and challenge myself with the lighting and warmer color palette. I was already familiar with making modular buildings from a previous project, so this part would at least be familiar for me.
Problem 1
How was I going to break this project down into 5 parts? The direction was unclear with no clear plan how to begin the project. I was too focused on research and giving this environment a narrative.
Solution
Here, I took my references and highlighted all of the different modular pieces of the buildings. Many of the building references I've found of factory buildings have a similar style of windows. By highlighting my modular components, I have a better idea of where to start with the architectural part of the project.
Problem 2
In version 1, I wanted to do an old car. This was quite the stretch considering that I had never tried to model. To fix this, i would need to trim down my scope because I would not be able to model this quick enough.
Solution
However, after reviewing my build intention, I decided to trim the scope down do a car frame instead. Considering that I have never modeled a car, I would not want to set myself up for failure, especially with my limited time.
