Here's my second update for my project capstone! I worked more in Maya and Unreal for this checkpoint.
Problem 1: References and Modularity
Yet again, I address the modularity in this project and find a main reference.
Solution:
I took this reference and did an overall modularity highlight rather than highlighting windows and pieces one by one. Overall, I wanted to use similar shapes of windows over the whole environment, so I didn't see the need to highlight them individually.
Problem 2: Proportions
One very important thing for this project is the proportions. It was imperative to make these buildings human scale.
Solution
I used my low poly blocking to establish the size of the buildings and the basic modularity. I wanted to ensure that windows, doors, etc. were the same size compared to the human reference. I did this first outside of the engine to make sure that proportions were correct, and the general size and shape of the building were accurate.
Afterwards, I did the high poly blocking in Maya. The models were created by detaching pieces of the Low Poly Version as a starting point, and then adding extra detail. In order to make sure everything was still the same size, I put the Low poly wireframe on top of he high poly version.
Once all of this was completed, I finally brought it into Unreal Engine.
